The FourCoursemen In November 2009's Food & Wine
Hi Everyone,
I know, I know… We kept it under wraps while it was happening but the cat is now officially out of the bag, and on newsstands! Food & Wine Magazine did a feature on us and it is in this month’s Thanksgiving issue! What are you waiting for? Go get it!
Here is what you can expect to find inside as well as a little behind the scenes info you will not. Our friend Susan Hable was wonderful enough to mention us to the magazine when they approached her hoping to do a story about her wonderful new place in Athens. Susan owns an amazing company in New York called Hable Construction (http://www.hableconstruction.com/). They are a textile design company that makes bags, home accessories, holiday items, gardening accessories, and other fun and interesting things with their fabrics. She also has a knack for making interiors look outstanding and, from what I understand, she has been involved in offering these services to F&W on past photo shoots. She suggested involving us in the feature and F & W became quite excited after learning about the unique dining experience we offer. The story suddenly became about a dinner party for dear friends who have been eating with us since we started doing this over three years ago. The dinner would be hosted at The FourCoursemen House. Susan would supply the decor for the dinner and we would supply the food and wine.
We submitted fifteen recipes and they chose their favorite five to include in the issue along with a little background on The FourCoursemen. It is of course the Thanksgiving issue so the recipes definitely have an Autumnal/Holiday twist. For those of you who have asked if we have a cookbook, the answer is still… not yet, but this should hold you over until we find the time to write out the recipes. We are planning this I promise!
Can you believe it? We actually measured and wrote detailed instructions on how to prepare these five dishes! It was quite a departure from the “cooking by feel” approach we normally employ. You will notice that the recipes are based on some of the dishes we have prepared at past dinners. Perhaps even some that you were a guest at. They have been simplified a bit to conform with Food & Wine’s requirements for their readers but we are very pleased with how they turned out and hope you will be too after you cook them on your own! The story is wonderful, the F&W staff were an absolute pleasure to work with, and the beautiful photography is courtesy of our good friend Rinne Allen (http://www.rinneallen.com/). Ok enough. I hope this gets you intrigued enough to go buy it and tell your friends about us. Spread the word. We love seeing new faces at our table and hope this kind of exposure will lead to dinners full of even more enthusiastic, and daring, diners!
